The first vehicle signed Lamborghini

The Ferruccio’s story begins, even before the cars, with its tractors.

In fact, since he returned to Italy after the Second World War, Ferruccio immediately grasped the needs of a country that had to re-emerge.

In an agricultural territory where mechanization was very modest, Ferruccio saw an opportunity to build his own empire from nothing.

And so he did, starting the first production of Lamborghini tractors, whose the Carioca is the first tractor model.

Building an empire from the rubble

The Carioca tractor model was literally created with a military car recovered from abandoned post war vehicles.

Hence Ferruccio’s brilliant idea to produce a versatile and powerful tractor, intended for the farmers of his land.

This first Lamborghini tractor model was presented to the public on February the 3rd, 1948…

and will mark the beginning of the history of the most coveted car brand in the world.

“You will probably be able to drive tractors very well, but you will never be able to drive a Ferrari”

Enzo Ferrari

The challenge

Ferruccio Lamborghini had a great passion for cars and at the time of the tractors production he already owned two Ferraris.

However Ferruccio was not satisfied for the two cars and he decided to improve their performance by fitting the clutch of one of his tractors.

So, in 1962, he went to Maranello to speak directly with Enzo Ferrari and discuss about the improvement with him.

“What do you want to know about cars, You the one who can only drive tractors?”

This was Ferrari’s response and the reason that sparked the legendary Lamborghini car manufacturer a year later.

This is the beginning of the story that led Ferruccio from building tractors to designing the perfect car.

So begins the story to build the perfect car.
