The term “supercar” was coined for it on purpose

Its sinuous lines made it seductive and aggressive.

While its power and speed were unrivaled at the time:

the Miura was the fastest car in the world with a top speed of 280 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds.

Man had not yet experienced such pride and elegance in a car until then, and was fascinated by it.

Forged by the ecounter of the Engineer and the Stylist

An Engineer and a Stylist: the first one forged the mechanics, the other one designed the shapes.

The engineer is Gian Paolo Dallara, creator of the chassis and futuristic engine that Ferruccio Lamborghini decided to “starkly” show at the Turin Motor Show in autumn 1965.

The other half of the duo is Marcello Gandini, a brilliant stylist who grew up at the school of Nuccio Bertone who designed the “dress”.

Heart and rational standpoint.
The perfect duo to give life to a myth.

“That was beautiful. Lamborghini and I looked at each other and we said: don’t touch anything anymore. It’s perfect as it is!”.

The first car built under the sign of Taurus
Power & Pride

Built under the sign of Taurus, Ferruccio Lamborghini chose to name the car that would revolutionize history with the name of a bull.

A name that could express the power and pride of his own creation: Miura

In honor of the breeder of fighting bulls “Don Eduardo Miura Fernandez”.

The Miura marked the beginning of a long tradition of Lamborghini cars with names inspired by bullfighting.

“The Italian with the most sinuous curves besides Sofia Loren”

The Miura immediately fascinated the whole world with its style.

In May 1966, just a few months after its official presentation, it was chosen as the “Pace Car” at the annual Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix.

And it soon became “a movie star”, driven by Roger Beckermann in “The Italian Job” movie in 1969.

Frank Sinatra, who bought a Miura, explained his choice in this way:

“Who wants to look like someone buys a Ferrari, but who is someone chooses a Lamborghini”.
